Wolfe Community Gardens/Grounds

Wolfe Elementary is a Master Gardener Community Project

It’s the time of year to submit the report for the gardens to the Master Gardeners by October 31st.  In 2013 and 2014, collectively, we put in over 1000 hours of volunteer service.  When everyone does a little, it really adds up!  Please email generalwolfegardens@gmail.com any hours you worked for the garden.  With our 12 NEW garden beds, the demand filled quickly. We had setbacks this year with vandalism as well as a lack of water due to an annex leak.

Thank you to Laura McCann, our Master Gardener volunteer who helped in many ways – garden club, teaching about bees, bringing her water meters, and helping to create the colourful signs to organize the new garden design.  She is not a parent at this school, but her knowledge and support was very valuable to many.  Thanks, honey ! (she’s a beekeeper too).

We need help this year to:

  • watering
  • planting
  • teaching
  • meetings
  • shopping for seeds, tools, classroom supplies
  • grant writing/reporting
  • building
  • cleaning
  • library window sill seedling tending
  • after school Garden Club (Fridays 3-4:30 April through June)

The Garden needs some champion ‘green’ parents from the K-3 ages (many of whom asked for garden space in the new playground).  For more information please visitwww.generalwolfegardens.blogspot.ca
